This forum is great, my only point against it is that we don't as a group, control it. and it isn't GPL. Just to throw a suggestion out there. How about the SMF forum software, we could integrate a wiki within that, as well as a download repository. If you look, the Rigs of Rods project uses SMF and with a bit of tidy graphics work it scrubs up quite nice and looks very integrated: repository.rigsofrods.com/Thoughts?

I've installed two SMF forums, and was very impressed with it. I'd be more than happy to use it, and have admin experience on it. I do remember thinking the skinning process looked a bit scary, but perhaps I just need to be less of a girl.
One minor reservation is that, in another post, I just suggested that if we are moving to host our own site, we could use a CMS where things like pilot profiles, flight logs/journals, the forum and the wiki would all sit together under the same login (as would avatars, sigs, that sort of thing). I think that could be quite beneficial.
However, I think we should definitely be keeping on the right side of GPL with everything we do, and it might be complicated tweaking a CMS to do all that and stay properly licensed. On the other hand, Joomla is GNU/GPL isn't it, and I've built a number of Joomla sites...

Ah yes, I love Joomla. built more than my fair share of those over the years and its very easy to skin and build our own little apps for. In fact I've got a pilot/ flight log script for Joomla I made for a VA I used to run. Might be worth looking into?

Yes, it is simplicity itself in many aspects, and there are some decent forum components available for it, and probably a Wiki by now too. If you can front the space and the DBs, I'd be all for that, to be honest...
