I don't know much about how FlightGear works, and I suspect a sonic boom is probably a bit pointless, however I would quite like to see something happen on the Typhoon when traversing the sound barrier... I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to produce a visible Prandtl-Glauert Singularity, for instance?

I imagine it could be done quite easily. Now would we want it only when the conditions were correct, or all the time? I imagine the camp will be split on this. But I would personally prefer to see it only when the environment is right.

I'm down with that. i like the realism, too. I'm actually surprised noone has modelled the wingtip vortices caused in humid conditions, too. I've not actually seen rain in FG yet so i dunno how realistic it is. Spray from the downwash from helicopters or from the Harrier when using vectored thrust on takeoff and landing are also an obvious extension of this.
