Ok, so we've decided that the Typhoon will be our little project. Lets build up a nice big list of resources that'll help us along the way. As long as we don't use the data etc directly in the making of it then we can keep the right side of the GPL license I'm going to work on the gauges and MFD's first, all help welcomed I think external textures should be assigned a budding developer, anyone going to put their hand up for some photoshopping? (or GIMP if that's your bag!) Alex

I'm not altogether clear on the license - do we need to notify the fellow already working on it, and let him know? Would it be courteous? Count me in for that - I will seek out that resource in German I found, it looked incredible. Ouch! I'll Photoshop it, though, sure At least I'll have a go. I can't remember what the model looks like. Very excited about this one. I am working on the Wiki solution at the moment, have a link for you to see how I've started, but I'm going to post it elsewhere now.

And I've posted in the FG Forum about diving in on development, thought it's just worth asking in case anybody else is working on it. Forum thread is here. Also, just this morning there was a reply pointing out something that's wrong with it, and how to (temporarily) fix it - to do with the MFD's I think. Gonna try it now. Sorry about all these posts, chaps, I'm having a dynamic morning!!

we like dynamism! although I'm not sure thats even a word! How are the MFD's looking at the moment? I think what we need are some screenshots of the current cockpit and all its panels, then perhaps divide it down button by button: - Green outlines around those that are working and we're happy with. - Yellow around those that are working but need more development - Orange around any that we are currently and actively developing - Red around those that are non working and need attention
Sound good?
If someone could post the screenies then that'd be great. I can't do decent shots till Monday. Although I do FG on my Mac its only for Dev work and the graphics quality isn't the best. All decent stuff is done during the week on my Windows machine in the office.

My screenshots will be worse than yours, I'm certain, cos I use a cheapy laptop, but I'm happy to post one as now I have the BF109 model in my Aircraft folder, I've got working MFDs and no weird white squares showing through the fuselage. Apparently it has radar, but I don't know if it's working yet - about to go have a little fly and find out.
Once we've ascertained what actually works and what doesn't, I've chosen a panel I'd quite like to work on as it isn't too demanding for a first go and I understand what everything does!!

If I get time, I'll hop in a Typhoon later and grab some screenshots. I need to get back into the Typhoon and re familiarise myself with her again, anyway.

This just gave me an idea. As it looks like the Typhoon is going to be pretty much the FGUK's fast jet of choice, how much work would it be to do custom paint jobs, or more acurately, add below the cockpit canopies "Commander Algernon", Flt. Lt. Avionyx, etc. I know it would mean us having to download each one so we could see each other's monica on our jets but it would look pretty kewl and make for some good screenies.

Excellent idea, seeing as we're starting with smaller strips and less strenuous hops. How about we start with a Tutor each?
In fact...give me a couple of hours, I'm going to have a play!

I'm still waiting to fly, I foolishly decided to move my Terrasync files to my data/Scenery directory and it took an hour!!

For the blonde ones among us, I think Avionyx is going to get us all personal rides. He mentioned a teacher each... No wait! He said Tutor. My bad. I've been trying to go take a nap after having dinner and a pint down town but ppl keep yackin on this forum and keeping me away.

At the other end of the scale from the Tutor, I did a personal 777 livery for each of the chaps I work with, who are also part-time FGers, featuring our current company brand scheme. Here I am escorting my colleague out of Somerset airspace... Yes, I was certain we'd end up with a livery or two - we could certainly have a single FGUK livery for the Typhoon, but of course there would be several so they can be personalised. I'd also personally like to get the hang of immatriculation one day...
